Brothers Marketplace: Small Format Grocery

The goal of the Brothers Marketplace experience to reinvent the idea of a corner grocery with unique product offerings that focus on fresh and locally crafted artisan foods. Their dedication to offering a curated collection of prepared meals and fresh local offerings sets them apart from larger chain retailers. The store environment is designed to highlight unique attributes of the history and heritage of the neighborhood and delivers on the brand promise: “Eat. Drink. Be Local.”
Custom graphics were created to highlight the attributes of the local community. An illustration of a compass is incorporated into the graphics above grocery and frozen. In the café seating area, a collage featuring an old map and photographs from the historical society are displayed on the wall along with a brass “ship’s bell.” The mural in the café was designed to highlight some of the key landmarks and lore from Duxbury including a representation of the “Tree of Knowledge” in the center. The “Tree of Knowledge” was allegedly a famous tree at the meeting point of two roads where colonial post riders would leave letters destined for the small town in a box that was nailed to the tree trunk. It was dubbed the “Tree of Knowledge” referencing the letters and mail that brought news from the outside world to the small village of Duxbury. The mural also features a local lighthouse and monument. It’s rich stories such as these that bring the true essence of the community to life within the space.
